One of the lovely things about working in the creative process that is open to meditation pratice is the freedom that one suddenly has in listening to the lesson of the materials and having other works arise in the moment. These photographs came from the process of covering a canvas in newsprint circles for the mixed media paintings that are also on this site. ​

As I was folding the cut newspaper to put it into the recycle box under my desk, I started noticing the way in which the circles created new compositions and juxtopsitions of words and images. It felt like my current relationship to the politcal climate and social and news media.  I just picked up my camera and made these images after every paper I cut for that large canvas. The "Alternative Facts" series was born out of the wisdom of the other work being made in that moment.
