These paintings were a study in mixing new materials (ink, paint, newsprint, etc) and new ways of showing up to making work.  This series was also a tremendous visual work through of the theology of Shambhala.  Through the process of making each of these, they enhanced my theological understanding through the challenges and surprising gifts that each new painting presented. The animal paintings are my understanding of the dignities that come from sitting practice and study. The landscape painting is my interpretation of Great Eastern Sun - the representation of the innate wisdom and dignity of all beings. All of these are a part of the visual language present in every Shambhala shrine room.
